Heaven’s Hotline is the tale of two girls who find that being good isn’t as easy as it seems. But when they discover the direct line to heaven will they also find a shot at redemption?
Notes:
- Ella (@e11urr) came over to work around three and told me she had to leave around 6:30. Nothing wrong with that, but the words shook loose some expectations I didn’t know I had. I know now: these shoots need a day’s time. At least until we’re more experienced—until our prep-work becomes practically choreographed. I’ll see what she has to say.
- I’m a little upset that the paper backdrop wasn’t long enough to double up on the wall. It wasn’t made for photography anyway. It’s for teachers’ classrooms. We made do by piecing the cut material in a shape on the wall to maximize background space. Our space was further limited with two subjects in the frame but, thankfully, photos look better when the subjects are closer together—when they’re interacting more. It feels unnatural but seems to translate well to 2D.
- Ella does a great beehive. I would love this to be my signature hairstyle.
- I struggle with posing athletically and creatively. Ella’s expressed a similar complaint about herself, but I think she’s great at delivering variety. We both plan to use more exaggerated poses in future shoots.
- While editing the photos from this shoot I realized I had incorporated several ideas from Instagram user @orograph into my look. The likeness is unintentional but they still deserve credit. Whoever Orograph is, they're a genius.
- This is our first time incorporating video and animated graphics!
